North Strabane Township provides for full-time building inspection and code enforcement services to insure and promote public health, safety, and welfare. Building permits are required to construct, enlarge, alter or
demolish a building or structure. Permits are also required to alter any plumbing, electrical, or mechanical equipment or system. The following require permits: new construction, repairs/remodeling involving
structural alterations, sheds, repair of sewer lateral, chimneys, decks, garages, pools, covered patios, wood/coal stove, mobile homes, accessory structures, and sidewalks/driveways within the right-of-way.
Inspections are required including a final inspection when the project is complete.

Open burning and fires are permitted in the Township subject to the following regulations.
All fires must be confined to a burning receptacle or incinerator.
Branches and other non-garbage matter burned must be attended
by a competent adult person 18 years or older until such fire is completely extinguished.
All such burning shall be permitted only during the hours of 7 A.M. until 7 P.M.
No such burning shall be
permitted on Sundays or holidays (except for recreational fires). Recreational fires may be allowed every day , including Sundays and holidays, upon a verbal or written request submitted to the Township at least 24
hours in advance of the recreational fire.
Lastly, the open burning of leaves is strictly prohibited.
