POLICE DEPARTMENT

The North Strabane Township Police Department was created in 1969 and consisted of a part-time unit that served primarily a rural township covering 27 square miles. Since that time, the department has grown steadily in order to accommodate one of the fastest growing communities in Washington County. Today, the Police department consist of 16 full-time sworn officers, and one full-time department secretary. Specialized services include a full-time criminal investigator.

The Department has adopted a community policing philosophy and provides trained officers in programs dedicated to crime prevention, child safety seat installation and drug abuse resistance education   (D.A.R.E.). In addition to reducing criminal acts, the department is focused on enforcing traffic laws and reducing serious traffic accidents. Continued growth and development in the Township requires a highly visible community presence and a proactive approach in providing the highest quality service to residents
